Keeping cool over the summer is no easy task. If the AC isn’t working you are either stuck in front of an old, noisy box fan or laying face first on the basement floor in an effort to not sweat through your shirt. (Hey, desperate times call for desperate measures alright?)
Even though lying on the hard concrete in the basement is … great, a better way to cool off is by making some light, refreshing summer drinks. With LOTS of ice.
Virgin Mojito- Mojitos (non-alcoholic of course) have quickly become one of my favorite drinks to make. They are so light and refreshing and all you need are a few simple ingredients.
Muddle two fresh mint leaves, a pinch of sugar and some squeezed lime juice in the bottom of your glass and pour your favorite lemon lime soda over as much ice as you can fit in the cup. Add a few full mint leaves to taste and you have a thirst quenching summer drink to sip throughout the day.
If you want to be extra fancy you can wet the top of your glass with lime juice and dip it in sugar for added sweetness and looks (lets be honest it just looks pretty frickin’ cool)
Raspberry Lemonade Fizz- Summer drinks are all about simplicity and lemonade is a summer staple that you can spice up in under 5 minutes.
Mix your favorite raspberry lemonade with a fizzy lemon lime soda and add ice. Add fresh raspberries and lemon slices straight into the drink to diffuse, adding a fruity and tart flavor to your fizzy concoction.
After the raspberries soak in the drink they taste amazing and pop in your mouth from the soda. You can eat the lemon slices too but be prepared for the smolder.
Both of these drinks are so different in terms of flavors but are guaranteed to keep you cool and hydrated this summer!
